I drink whey protein shakes. It's a great way to make sure you get enough protein each day. If I'm not mistaken, the nutrition advisor suggested protein shakes to someone in an earlier post.

Hey Lynn,

Any particular reason you chose Whey protien shakes over any other type?

Thanks

Michael

Yes, protein shakes are great.

Whey protein scores better than any other protein when it comes to muscle resynthesis. Soy protein is better for cardiovascular work. So the best would be to supplement with whey on Sculpt days and soy on cardio days. If you were only going with one choose whey because it's harder to recover from the Sculpt days and muscle recovery is vital for success.

Moley,

Whey tastes better than soy or egg protein shakes.

Does anyone know if rice protein shakes are better than regular whey protein shakes? Someone in another post suggested that soy is best for cardio workouts.

Rice protein is a complete protein but to my knowledge it doesn't have any particular benefits from an exercise perspective. It is hypoallergenic however, and if your diet is loaded with soy, it's a good idea so you have a more diverse nutritional profile.

What about egg white protein. I do not eat dairy so how would egg white protein benefit me in muscle resynthesis and cardiovascular work. I am going to be beginning P90X May 1st. I was told good things about egg white protein. And also I love the beachbody forums.

Egg is okay. Whey is best, but you gotta eat what you gotta eat. As long as it's a complete protein -- which egg is -- you're fine.
