It always seems to be on the same side that i get the cramping and in the same area of my workout. I was just curious to see what causes this i've got them before even when jogging

Believe it or not, cramps are still a bit of a mystery to the fitness world, although there are plenty of solid theories.
Generally, dehydration or an electrolyte imbalance (fancy talk for not getting enough minerals) are pretty good guesses. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water through the day. Also, have water with you during workout and don't be afraid to drink it. Also, get yourself a good multivitamin and eat bananas, they're loaded with minerals. Another theory says that when you use a muscle too much on one direction (pointing your toe, for example), the muscle gets fatigued and has a hard time relaxing, so it contracts. The best cure for this is stretching. I don't know how this would cause side cramps, but in addition to the other things I suggested, maybe take a little time warming up, do some trunk twists. Let me know if that helps. |

Jami -
Our multivitamin, Activit, is great, but if you have another brand you trust, I'm sure that would be fine too. |
