It seems like the bands are easier to use than free weights. I admit they are both hard sometimes especially when a person is as weak as I am, but are weights better? Its hard for me to believe that I will become muscular with using these bands. Thank you to all who have helped me with all of my stupid questions!

Both will work. They are slightly different, one being what is called "constant resistance" and the other "variable resistance" but the bottom line is the word resistance. If you work your muscles against resistance they will respond. As they get stronger, the resistance must increase. As long as you follow these principles you will see results.
