Let's see what we can do. How much do you weigh? How tall are you? How long have you been doing Si6? What progress have you made? Inches? Pounds?

How have you been eating? List a sample day of your diet, including exact amounts of everything you eat and drink.

Hi. This is my second post in the entire 3 years i;ve been a customer. I'm now in my 5th week of slim in 6 and have lost not a pound, but a few inches, very few. I'm totally discouraged, and my husband is threatening my pride with a personal trainer! i want this to work, but i think he may be right. I tried power 90 in 02 and lost about 20 lbs in 60 days then, life set in and i stopped. my diet isn't perfect by any means, but I do better than most. Please, help me.

It's our general policy to do all this over the boards, so that everyone can learn from what's going on.

"4478" doesn't give a ton away about your personal info, so I don't think you need to be concerned about privacy. Wink

What results have you had? List a sample day of your diet, including exact amounts of everything you eat and drink.

Well, I can't really help you with your diet if you don't tell me what it is! You need to help me to help you.

How many inches have you lost?

Here's a cool article about picking cereal:

HOW TO PICK A BREAKFAST CEREAL

Diana Mirkin

The healthiest breakfast is whole grain cereal. If you're trying to lose weight, control cholesterol or diabetes, or just need a lot of energy, your best bet is a hot cooked cereal of whole grains, such as oat groats, barley or wheat berries, served like oatmeal - perhaps with cinnamon or raisins. Most of the prepared hot cereals such as oatmeal are made from whole grains and are just fine, too, but not as filling.

If you prefer cold cereal, you need to check the list of ingredients carefully. The FIRST ingredient should be a whole grain. Then scan through the entire list and if you see the words "partially hydrogenated," put the box back on the shelf. You should avoid foods with partially hydrogenated oils (or "trans fats"), and they show up in an alarming number of cereal brands (see the list below.)

Once you've eliminated all the brands made with refined grains or partially hydrogenated oils, check for added sugars (you want little or none) and fiber (you want a lot.)

The fiber content listed on the nutrition label can be confusing because it's based on serving size, and very light cereals (such as puffed wheat) show little fiber per serving, but an acceptable amount when you adjust for weight. Cereals made from bran (the outer covering removed from whole grains) will have higher fiber content than cereals made from whole grains (which have the germ and starchy parts of the grains as well as the fiber), but they can be hard to digest.

RECOMMENDED:
Cereals made from Whole Grains
(no trans fats, little or no added sugars -- as of Fall 1999. Check the labels occasionally -- ingredients can change. )

Well, that's still not enough info, but I can tell you that you probably need rethink things, especially veggies. You need more veggies. Also, two hamburger patties is a giant blast of saturated fat that's definitely working against you. Have you read the diet guide that came with your tapes? I'd start there.

I have a feeling what you're looking for is a little outside my scope. I think you should check out mybeachbody.com, where we have meal plans for all different kinds of people with different needs.

If that's too pricey for you, check out The Formula, a book by Gene and Joyce Daoust. It's a great eating guide you can get at most book stores.

Good luck! Once you've done that, if you have more specific questions, let me know.

I have a few questions as well to contact my fitness advisor. So I will try it this way I really need an answer..
Hello and Good Morning to you. I have a guestion regarding the Whey protien I ordered. I have tried the Meal Replacement shake, and wanted to try the Whey shake. The whey protein is that to build the muscles only and not a meal replacement shake is this correct? If so should I get the Meal Replacement shake for an on the go meal? I do want to build the lean muscle..

Also the SF will be the first time for me. I have been using the Performace Formula, which is great for my workout without being sore the next day. The only thing is you cant take the Performace with pasta, bread basically NO Carbs. Which is hard to do so this is why I wanted to try the Slimming Formula due to you take before your meal. My question is will this be to much? I would like to take the Slimming Formula during the day with my meals, and take the Performace Formula for exercise only, which I work out in the evening 5 days a week. Does that sound ok to do?

What should I do about my cracking Knee. I never had this until I started working out. I have been drinking more milk and yogurt plus GNC vitimans. Will this go away I am too young for cracking knee's 27 years old mother of one.

Please answer all my question. I apprecite all your help and love my Beach body products and video's. Cant wait to hear from you, have a great day...

Meal Replacement does just what it claims to do. It's a balance of carbs, protein and fat. The three major nutrients you need. Protein powder, however, is mostly just protein. It's a source of protein like any other, like meat or dairy or soy.

Here's an article that explains it:

http://www.beachbody.com/jump.jsp?itemID=318&itemType=NEWSLETTER_ISSUES

If you're replacing a meal, meal replacement is the way to go, but if you're low on protein, protein powder makes more sense.

If you want to take PF and SF, that's fine.

I answered your cracking question on another post.

Hope that help!

One more craklin question LOL. I will be taking the Whey shake is that considered a Meal Replacement shake? If not should I purchase the Meal Replacement shake, the reason I wanted to try the Whey shake is they say its good for lean arm. Also for my workout I want to tone my arms more, and loose some of my thighs.I have the Slim 6 and the Power 90 DVD's please assit me in some type of program and or purchase another Beach body DVD. Dont get me wrong I have seen lots of results, but need to more...
Please answer all my question as you did before.

thank you so much,

Natasha AKA Swt Carmel Eek

Natasha -

I explained the difference between the two above. But if you add fruit and milk and flax to whey protein powder, it does start to balance out the fats, proteins and carbs and it becomes a meal replacement.

As for lean arms and thinner thighs, you can drink all the protein shakes in the world and it won't matter. The key is to eat a healthy, balanced diet at a slight deficit and to exercise 6 days a week, working as hard as you can.

I hope that helps.
