How much sodium/salt does a person need to consume in a day?

For a man doing SI6, P90 or other workout?

For a woman doing SI6, P90 or other workout?

Thanks for you help in advance. I think that it sould be between 1800-2000mg a day, but I wanted to double check since I don't want to give out incorrect advice!!

Here's a great answer right from Steve:

Sodium intake is an issue with most people, especially those who are sedentary and eat a lot of fast/convenience/canned foods, which tend to be loaded with it. A sedentary person probably only needs about 500mg of sodium per day but the RDA, adjusted for the "average" person is 2,500mg. These numbers can vary wildly given that you sweat out about 1000mg in an average hour of strenous activity. If you're in intense heat, the number can reach 2,000mg/hr. Given this, athletes like triathlets who may continue this pace for 8-12 hours obviously need to supplement sodium (as well as all other electrolytes, including mainly chloride, potassium, and others in small amounts).

So there is no real sodium RDA for everyone. The sodium in SF should offset the workout you do in Si6, so care should be taken in regards to sodium intake in the rest of your diet, which should probably not excess an extra 2,000mg/day unless you do other exercise or have a job where you sweat a lot.

Results will vary. Weight loss may be temporary as exercise and proper diet are required to maintain long-term weight loss and muscle gain.
