I am on week 6 of sin6 and have maybe lost 2 inches and maybe 2 lbs. I have been eating good and thought maybe this is the reason I am seeing no results. Sandy |

Although some reports indicate carbonation hinders digestions which could directly affect weight loss, the main thing about diet soda is that they just aren't good for you.
They contain aspertame. Although nothing negative has been proven about this sugar substitute, there are plenty of unproven claims that it causes cancer, MS or Alzheimer's disease. Why take the chance? Also, the phosphorus in soda inhibits calcium absorption, which can lead to things like osteoporosis. Many sodas contain caffeine, which is a diuretic. I have no problem with caffeine, but when you substitute a caffeinated beverage for water, you're not getting the benefit of water. So, you see, a diet coke every now and then is ok, but if you're on 3 cans a day, that means you're drinking it when you should be drinking water and that's not so good. |

Yes.
1. Diet soda contains artificial sweeteners. If you do an internet search for those, you'll find plenty of evidence that they can adversely affect your health. 2. Soda (of any kind) interferes with digestion. It actually changes your body chemistry. It prevents you from absorbing nutrients from your food. 3. Soda leaches calcium from your body, which increases your risk for osteoporosis, among other things. I know where you are coming from -- I used to have a HUGE soda habit myself and yes it is hard to get rid of it. But DO IT. Why continue to put chemicals into your body by choice? Tam |

Thanks to both of you for the advice, but what would you suggest drinking. I do drink water but that gets really old. I don't really like tea, but what about the flavored waters like propel. Propel is a flavored water that doesn't really taste to bad.
Any other suggestions to kick the soda habit???? Sandy |

I suggest water.
Honestly, water is the BEST. Your body is what, 70% water? 80%? You are working out hard -- you need the water. There is not a product on the market anywhere that comes close. Try squeezing some fresh lime, lemon or orange into yours for flavor. Your body will THANK you. Tam |
