How much red wine is ok? I know alcohol slows down your metabolism so I wondered if it's good or bad? Also what about the Michelob ultra low carb beer? I don't want to ruin all my hard efforts..thanks

One or two glasses occasionally are fine, As with all foods, if you have too much, it will have negative effects. Generally speaking, the beer is bad. I'm not saying you should never have it again, but it should be severely restricted if you expect to see great results. The advertising touts it as being "low carb" and thats great, but its the calories from alcohol that get you. Carbs have 4 calories per gram, alcohol has 7.

I don't think beer is the end-all, be-all, but I also think it's over-criticized.

Here's an article about it:

Judge for yourself.

However, I 100% agree with Xnav's take on low-carb beer. It's silly.

Results will vary. Weight loss may be temporary as exercise and proper diet are required to maintain long-term weight loss and muscle gain.
