I've been searching the boards, but decided to ask directly...
My husband is finally taking the plunge and is going to improve his health, starting with our library of BB tapes/dvds.
He is about 20-25 pounds overweight. He has collected most of his fat in his upper body and has medium high cholesterol issues that the doctor said would be improved with exercise and good diet.
He wants the best results he can get and wonders which supplements would help him burn off the excess fat and still recover for the next day. He is leaning towards creatine, but wonders if the Performance formula might be better for his goals. We are also ordering the joint supplement, because as a FedEx courier his joints are stressed to the max every day.
Thanks,
Anne

Creatine is for bulking. It's not really something you take when you want to lose weight. Even professional body builders will focus on losing fat before bulking, so he should probably hold off on that.

The first thing he has to do is clean up his diet. No sup in the world is going to help if he's eating junk. Once that's done, he might look into PF or Slimming Formula, which contains pyruvate. When you exercise, you catabolize a little muscle when you burn fat. That basically means you burn muscle. Pyruvate helps prevent this.

If he's concerned about recovery, the best thing he can do is make a small juice and protein powder cocktail (4:1 carbs - protein) and drink it right after working out -- but only when he exercises hard. His blood sugar and glycogen should be low, so the sugar will rush in, taking the protein to muscles to begin recovery.

I hope that helps.

Results will vary. Weight loss may be temporary as exercise and proper diet are required to maintain long-term weight loss and muscle gain.
