The better you eat during the week that better chance you have that days like this will not affect you. As your body gets used to processing healthy foods it begins to treat days like this as an anomoly and does not utitlize the junk that you feed it. Therefore, a person that eats pizza everyday will most likely be storing away loads of fat whereas a fit person will more or less just flush it through their system.
So that answer is yes, cheat days are okay. And the more healthy you become the less they will affect you. But be careful, because one bad day can lead to a loss of willpower and if you eat like this for a few days on end your body starts to remember how to use all that junk.
Just be warned... if you get really used to a healthy diet, such as eating only good stuff for 5 months like i did in basic in the army, when you eat high grease foods like fast food burgers your body is going to revolt. Stay close to a restroom....we all made the same mistake on our first day we were allowed to go and get food outside the mess hall. It is amazing how we dont realize that our bodies werent designed to eat this crap.
vasilios: yes, there will be days when you "cheat" ...I, along with other "september newbies", were well into the program when Thanksgiving came along. Several of us went ahead and indulged a little in the goodies we have loved so much....BUT, after being "good" for so long, my body didn't tolerate junk too well.
There have also been weekends well into the program where I have eaten more than I normally would during the week. Not necessarily "bad" food, but just more...and to my surprise, I'd lose a pound!
Just be careful, like the FA says....you certainly dont want to fall off the willpower wagon!! Good luck to you with the program!!
