Hi, On day 30 and loving this program. Thanks for creating it! I ocassionally fast for a day or two and need to know how this will affect my workouts and results and would like wisdom. Should I not work out on the day(s) I fast? Anything I need to watch out for? Appreciate advice.
I'm no expert but I did fast during my first 90 days for 9 days adn I had great results. felt great and lost 15 lb during that period. lost 50 during the 90 tlcbouv
What about diet soda. I read that one a day is ok. How come I can't drink more than one? I am drinking the 2 liters of water but I also would like to drink more diet cokes. How bad are they? Thanks
I think that fasting occasionally is great. The only problems that you will encounter is lack of blood sugar, which will make it tougher for you to keep the intensity high during workouts. This can be a reasonable trade-off because you are burning stored body fat because you have no glycogen stores to use. As your body fat gets lower fasting becomes more difficult. If it gets too low you may not be able to workout during fast, or at least not workout very hard, which is okay. I would try and plan my fasts around a cardio day or rest day or both. During sculpt days you want to go anaerobic which is very hard without carbohydrate stores and chances are you will bonk.
Diet coke ... hmmmm.
Not technically bad for you except for the sodium but try and avoid artificial sweetners as much as possible. They are controversial at best.
I am a late November Newbie and I fast once a week (24 hours). It's also my NO workout day. When I resume the next day, I do workout with less intensity by taking it easy during the workout.
I'd also like to say, that people often fast for different reasons - some to loose weight, others for spirtual/religious reasons. Just like P90, Fasting is a committment and there are ways that one should break his/her fast.
I had thought about doing just a 24-hour fast, on my rest day this week (I just started this week and didn't see the fast brochure until day 2). I've never fasted before, and just hope I have the will power to hang in there. Will a one-day fast make any difference? I know the program recommends two days, so I didn't know if one day just wasn't enough to make a difference, or if the rule of 'every little bit helps' would apply here. Thanks! Colleen
